AUT Science & Technology Building

The construction of the new 9,500m2 Science and Technology Building within the AUT campus was achieved utilising a design and build process.

The six level building is constructed with a concrete frame and a structural steelwork frame to the roof, together with precast concrete floors. The external walls are profiled powder coated steel panels, with shopfront glazing at street level.

It contains specialist facilities including a 70m long open plan laboratory to allow a number of simultaneous classes, as well as lecture theatres and a full level of parking.

The FF&E management involved the relocation of the staff (over 200 lecturers, technicians and administrators) into the new accommodation. In addition, management and administration of the procurement of all new equipment and fixtures within the established budget.

University of Auckland – Faculty of Medical & Health Science

RCP have been engaged by the University of Auckland as Project Managers for the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences Grafton Redevelopment since May 2007. The redevelopment will include an upgrade of existing teaching and laboratory space to accommodate increasing student numbers and a major refurbishment of existing laboratory space for research. A new building will house dry research and support staff.

AUT – New Business Faculty Building

This ten storey Business School for AUT comprises 10,500m2 of floor area and houses seven floors of teaching space in conjunction with the faculty office.

The building is a structural steel frame with precast concrete floors. The cladding is made up from glazed curtain walling, precast GRC panels, blockwork and strip windows.

RCP was engaged as project manager and oversaw the design development and contract administration of the construction.

Victoria University Coastal Ecology Laboratory

Victoria University’s new Coastal Ecology Laboratory in Island Bay, Wellington, will be a modern enhancement to the existing facility to accommodate staff, students and continuous growth within the school of Biological Sciences.

RCP have been acting as Project Manager on this project since June 2007 and will project manage the 40 week construction process through October 2008.

Massey University Quad Blocks A B

S tage 1 involved the construction of lecture theatres, classrooms and administration facilities based within a building that externally adopted a distinctive Mediterranean style to its look.

Stage 2 is a mirror reflection of Stage 1.

Each building accommodates over 1000 students at any time. Collectively, they house the faculties of Management, Law, Economics and Sports.

Sacred Heart College

RCP was engaged as Project Managers to oversee the construction of a new Middle School and Technology Block, comprising classrooms, laboratories and service facilities, as well as the construction of a new swimming pool.

AUT Studio Building for School of Art and Design

The new 8,300m2 Studio Building within the AUT campus provides extensive studio and workshop space for the School of Art & Design in conjunction with Office and courtyard areas

The seven level building is constructed with a concrete frame and a structural steelwork frame to the roof, together with precast concrete floors. The external walls are concrete and profiled steel panels, with shopfront glazing at street level.

It contains specialist facilities including a 700m2 workshop and extensive Studio and Gallery spaces. It also included the full two floor fit out of the fashion workshops including the relocation of all sewing and knitting equipment.

The FF&E management involved the relocation of staff (over 50 lecturers, technicians and administrators) into the new accommodation. In addition, management and administration of the procurement of all new equipment and fixtures within the established budget.

This building was completed within the project budget and was occupied by the time required by the Academic calendar.

AUT Hotel & Restaurant Studies Building

Conveniently located at the entrance to the Auckland Institute of Technology’s campus, the 6 level 6,300m2 building houses the Catering, Hotel Management and Hospitality Departments of the Institute.

The building is constructed with a concrete frame and precast concrete floor . The external walls are a combination of precast concrete panels, aluminum sandwich panels and curtain walling.

As Client Representative, the project was overseen to provide overall co-ordination of a complex project and its inhabitants equipment and possessions.

RCP co-ordinated, planned and managed the FF&E process which included the lecture areas such as catering kitchens, hotel bedrooms, together with the staff’s furniture, equipment, books etc

AUT Learning Centre

Construction of the five level 7810m2 reinforced concrete Learning Centre commenced in June of 1999 and was completed in June 2001.

The Learning Centre is linked via an atrium to the AUT admin block which was also refurbished as part of the project.

The Learning Centre was designed to become the hub of the AUT campus and as such underwent an extensive briefing process.

RCP undertook the project management of the construction as well as the FF&E procurement.
