The construction of the new 9,500m2 Science and Technology Building within the AUT campus was achieved utilising a design and build process.
The six level building is constructed with a concrete frame and a structural steelwork frame to the roof, together with precast concrete floors. The external walls are profiled powder coated steel panels, with shopfront glazing at street level.
It contains specialist facilities including a 70m long open plan laboratory to allow a number of simultaneous classes, as well as lecture theatres and a full level of parking.
The FF&E management involved the relocation of the staff (over 200 lecturers, technicians and administrators) into the new accommodation. In addition, management and administration of the procurement of all new equipment and fixtures within the established budget.
