RCP acted in the role of Programme Director and provided project management services on the redevelopment of Christchurch’s Burwood Hospital as part of the $1billion hospital redevelopment in Canterbury.
RCP managed the business case approvals process, saving approximately 18 months in the usual time it takes to build a new hospital. Also providing design advisory services, risk management and stakeholder engagement as well as an assessment of appropriate procurement options.
The development houses 230 new inpatient beds and provides for increased older persons’ mental health beds including a seclusion room, additional brain injury rehabilitation beds, older persons’ stroke rehabilitation beds, along with a single level ward area for older persons’ mental health beds with a high dependency room. The building also provides for gyms to support patient rehabilitation, a new radiology department (including MRI, XRay and fluoroscopy) as well as a new outpatient department, new entrance and back of house areas as well as carparking, landscaping and wayfinding signage.
