RCP acted in the role of Programme Director and provided project management services on the redevelopment of Christchurch’s Burwood Hospital as part of the $1billion hospital redevelopment in Canterbury.
RCP managed the business case approvals process, saving approximately 18 months in the usual time it takes to build a new hospital. The development houses 230 new inpatient beds and provides for increased older persons’ mental health beds including a seclusion room, additional brain injury rehabilitation beds, older persons’ stroke rehabilitation beds, along with a single level ward area for older persons’ mental health beds with a high dependency room. The building also provides for gyms to support patient rehabilitation, a new radiology department (including MRI, XRay and fluoroscopy) as well as a new outpatient department, new entrance and back of house areas as well as carparking, landscaping and wayfinding signage.
