RCP have been engaged as the Project Managers across both design and delivery for Fisher & Paykel Healthcare’s exciting and innovative new $100M+ Building 4 in East Tamaki, Auckland.
Building 4 is the 4th in a succession of similar formatted buildings across the campus that will accommodate approximately 700 people. The building will comprise of large open plan office space, laboratory and model shop spaces, a controlled air environment manufacturing space, materials warehouse, distribution centre, under-croft carpark and extensive roading with landscaping to complement their existing campus. The building covers approximately 38,000m2 across a single level with a further 12,000m2 of under-croft carparking.
Sustainability is an integral part of FPH’s business and is reflected in the design and construction of building 4; the project is targeting a 5 Star Green Star built rating, and notwithstanding the rating, picks up some new industry practices that embrace change. The building is also fully detailed and coordinated in a 3 dimensional BIM environment, with the BIM model being provided back to the client at the end of construction for use in their Asset / Facilities Management software.
To enable the project’s commencement, RCP engaged with a number of stakeholders such as local Iwi, Heritage NZ, the Planning team and Council to document the land’s history prior to commencement. RCP have worked extensively with FPH in compiling a construction contract that adopts an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) role for the Main Contractor. Leigh’s Construction were successful in securing this role with construction that commenced in early 2018 and an expected operational date of 2020.
