The Leonard Isitt Drive re-alignment was a complex infrastructure project involving straightening of the street and upgrading of the streetscape to set up an internal street grid pattern allowing further feasible development of ‘The Quad’ in the future, while ensuring efficient traffic flows. The realignment project has created the ‘high street’ of the precinct and is now home to a number of new and exciting developments. The realigned road has been designed with the pedestrian in mind, the high quality finishes palette such as cobbled pavements, attractive street furniture and NZ urban art has set the precedent for future infrastructure and building developments within the precinct.
RCP were engaged to oversee the road realignment project on behalf of Auckland International Airport Limited (AIAL). RCP also acted on behalf of AIAL to manage the construction of the new buildings which make up the Quad Precinct being the office development named Quad 5, an airport staff training facility named Travel Careers and Training as well as the Ibis Hotel.
Leonard Isitt Drive is at the heart of the Auckland Airport Business District, known as The Quad precinct; primarily home to office activities, hotel accommodation and retail amenities to service passengers and airport workers. The long term vision for The Quad is to provide businesses with a quality environment for staff and clients.
