Q Theatre

RCP were the project managers responsible for the delivery of the design and construction phases of this $15.5M innovative and purpose designed venue supporting the passion and viability of the arts in Auckland.   

The project, located immediately adjacent to the heritage listed Auckland Town Hall, involved the creation of Rangitira – a 450 seat flexible format space, the Loft – a 120 seat flat floor space overlooking Queen Street, rehearsal space and large entry lobby with a bar and cafe.  

Rangitira, the main auditorium, and its associated load in and back of house facilities occupy a new purpose-built building while the public entry, cafe and bar and the Loft performance space occupy a strengthened and reworked 1920’s Building. 

Construction was complex with RCP successfully managing and mitigating a number of key challenges including in-ground conditions, integration with the existing environment, heritage considerations, consenting and complex staging.
