The new Acute Services Building formed stage 1 of the wider masterplan, providing for new operating theatres, wards, and paediatric facilities for the purposes of improved models of care, hospital efficiency and reducing clinical risk to meet the needs of the Taranaki population.
RCP provided project management services across the project lifecycle, including providing strategic advice to facilitate the successful staged delivery of the works within the operational hospital environment and the migration planning of existing functions into the new facility. The project was delivered successfully within the original budget and baseline programme, notwithstanding the additional scope factored in. The desired design outcomes were achieved through facilitation of robust communication and reporting, together with careful programme management and monitoring, including hold points within the programme to undertake detailed review.
