Having outgrown the existing facility, the new building has the largest seismic testing capabilities in Australasia. Part of the wider university site, a previously commercial site has been transformed into a learning hub for the future. This project encompassed the remediation of the site of the former Lion Brewery on Khyber Pass Road and its redevelopment into new research buildings for the Faculty of Engineering and entailed the full construction of a new Structures Hall for civil engineering research.
Experienced in managing construction in live campus style environments, the RCP team was successfully able to manage the staging of works in order to maintain business as usual and provide no disruption to the operational elements of the University. Utilising proven processes, and careful decanting planning, the team was able to facilitate phased occupation while still undergoing construction and fitout.
