Kopupaka Park

Westgate Stormwater Management Network

RCP provided project management services to deliver Kopupaka Park, an award-winning integrated stormwater and open space project at Westgate Town Centre.

Kopupaka Park provides the infrastructure for the attenuation and detention of stormwater run-off from the streets and buildings of the town centre. It also has a tight overlay of cultural, ecological, community and (mostly unseen) engineering objectives.

The most significant component, the stormwater infrastructure, is largely hidden. The project involved the delivery of six separate stormwater ponds / wetlands over 22ha of public open space and illustrates how urban growth can be balanced with ecological restoration to create high quality public reserves and efficient stormwater network management.

As project managers, RCP represented the Client in the administration of the supporting Infrastructure Funding Agreements, took a hands-on role in contract administration and acted as Engineer to the Contract under the construction contract.
